The first outing for the new video equipment was a
brilliant success. Andrew Tinsley got it set up in rapid
order and Tony Halcrow, demonstrator for the evening, never
looked better! The definition from the camera was really sharp and
the projector gave a good reproduction. The sound equipment was
also on hand but connection problems meant that it couldn't be used, but
it should be up and running for the next meet. There were over 40
members attending and the platter competition went really well with some
16 entries. The prize went to the turner ( see, look after your
notes - I lost mine and now I can't give credit - smack my wrist), of
a platter inlaid with 'in lace' very effectively. He got his entry
fee for the evening refunded. Congratulations. The
Demonstration for the evening by Tony Halcrow was turning a
goblet and it went really well. He's a master at this stuff,
humourous and modest (well, he is), and didn't mind a bit of
barracking. All good fun and now we can go away and make a goblet
for the competition at May's meeting, can't we? Well, you can, I'm
going to sunny California for a couple of weeks and will see you in
June! Bill Long |
